Mr Crundell's cow

I found this gorgeous 'cow' book in the collection which encouraged some research about the author. Eve Garnett wrote and illustrated this book, published in 1966. Garnett was a visionary English author who broke all children's literature mores with the publication of her book 'Family from One End Street', about a UK working class family in the '30's. Awarded the Carnegie Medal in 1937, children's literature pundits were initially horrified that an author had written a book detailing the social conditions of the time. The book was later seen as a pioneering work in the genre.

I'm sure there are other really fascinating cow books in the collection which I'll discover!
